Accelerated Life Test

HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) – design maturation / margin discovery test process HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Tests) techniques have revolutionized product design, reliability and time to market. Producing results in a fraction of the time of traditional stress testing. The HALT process subjects' products to accelerated stresses, beyond those expected in normal use, pushing the product to failure. HALT identifies weaknesses in product design allowing the opportunity to improve product reliability. HALT utilizes a step stress approach in subjecting products to varied accelerated stresses to discover design limitations of the product. HALT is intended to discover the stress limits of a product and identify product weaknesses. This information is then used to assist in product redesign decisions. HALT enables you to reduce costs, improve product reliability, accelerate time to market and reduce warranty costs.

HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screen)

Production monitoring / screening HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screen) techniques have revolutionized product reliability. Producing results in a fraction of the time compared to traditional stress screening methods. The HASS process subjects' products to accelerated stresses to identify manufacturing process out of control events, and assembly and component flaws.

HASS Development, Fixturing, and Proof of Screen

Once operational and destruct limits are found in the HALT process, the next step is to use these results to develop a Highly Accelerated Stress Screen (HASS) that is used during production. An effective HASS will find manufacturing flaws in products without taking any useful life from the units. PTI's experienced team can help insure that you develop the most economical, effective screen possible.

Dynamics Testing

Test services can reproduce field stress conditions to help you design products and packaging tough enough to make it to their destination and meet standards requirements. We have a full complement of facilities and testing equipment to perform evaluations on products and package systems, such as vibration, shock, altitude and temperature/humidity.

Our dynamics testing includes, but is not limited to:

  • Vibration (Sine, Random, Sine on Random, Random on Random, Gunfire)
  • Electro-dynamic shaker table with digital controller
  • Capability up to 40,000 force lbs & up to two (2) inch displacement on our Electro-Dynamic vibration shaker.
  • Fast Fourier Transform, Shock Response Spectrum, and Modal Analysis available as on-site engineering diagnostic tools.

Environmental Testing

We offer a variety of environmental testing chambers from bench-top to walk-in size, including high-performance chambers with rates of change that exceed 60ºC per minute. We perform thermal testing in chambers with internal sizes from 3 to greater than 40 cubic feet, and if needed, we employ larger walk-in and room-sized chambers. Automated controllers deliver around-the-clock real-time documented data. Temperature and Temperature cycling, Thermal Shock stresses ranging from -100ºC to +200ºC, to test either operating or non-operating product capabilities. Humidity can be varied with temperature and performed from 5RH.
