Commercial EMC Testing

PTI's commercial 10m EMC chamber was originally designed by IBM as a state-of-the-art facility. This facility is primarily used for devices to comply to FCC part 15 requirements for unintentional radiators. "Unintentional radiators" are any device that has an oscillator over 9kHz and is not intended to have any wireless communications. The FCC still requires that these devices be tested. This chamber is the only commercially available 10m chamber in Austin, TX and boasts the following:

  • A 12ft automatic turntable capable of supporting over 1,000 lbs
  • A 120dB blockage from any outside EMC sources
  • Automatic movement of antenna positions combined with automatic turntable movements for expedited testing
  • An underground room for placing support / ancillary equipment
  • Frequency capabilities of 9kHz to 40GHz, with measurements down to 20udBV/M
  • Power sources available, including:
    1. 120VAC / 60Hz up to 200 Amps
    2. 240VAC / 50Hz and 60Hz up to 100 Amps
    3. 480VAC / 3-phase to 100A
    4. 48VDC up to 1,000A
    5. 24VDC and 12VDC also available at lower levels upon request.
